MIRANDA WORTHEN, Phd, MPHil
Dr. Worthen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health & Recreation at San José State University, where she teaches classes in epidemiology, public health and global health. Her research is multi-disciplinary focusing on social justice and public health. She also serves as the Research Coordinator for the SJSU Human Rights Institute. In her free time, she enjoys hiking in the regional parks with her family, reading detective stories, watercoloring, and woodworking.

MELISSA Mcclure fuller, MSOT, MPH(c)
Melissa is a Master of Public Health student at SJSU graduating in August 2021. She works as a graduate research assistant for SJSU and as an intern for a foster care agency organization. She is interested in health outcomes among the LGBTQ+ community as well as vaccine hesitancy for COVID-19. In her spare time, she is learning how to parent her teenage girls.

Thea Marie EchevarriA
Thea is a senior at San José State University working towards receiving their Bachelors in Public Health. Her interests have been guided towards serving her local college community in mental health and vaccine hesitancy. Professionally, she works as a program coordinator for HIV and STI services for incarcerated individuals and is a contact tracing intern for the LACPHD. She enjoys binging tv series with her roommates, painting, and playing with her cat Funfetti.

HUFSA MASOOD
Hufsa is an undergraduate public health student at San José State University with a passionate interest in the world of data, research, and epidemiology. Her career aspirations are in the field of epidemiology, studying infectious diseases, and in urban health promotion. At home, she is a cat mom of four and a caffeine addict before noon. Hufsa loves to binge watch old movies and TV shows, and read self-help books on her downtime. Outside of home and academia, she enjoys indulging in interior décor, browsing Tudor-style architecture, and travelling to cities outside of California when she can.

Daisy PerezDaisy is a senior at San José State University who is working towards earning her Bachelors of Science in Public Health degree. Career-wise, she aspires to become a nurse. Her interests stem from her passion to advocate for underserved communities and individuals, directly connecting to her work in studying vaccine hesitancy as a Research Assistant at San Jose State University. In her spare time, she enjoys creating arts and crafts, dancing Mexican Folklorico, spending time with her friends, and playing with her three dogs.

KIM NGUYEN
Kim is an upcoming senior at San José State University working towards a Bachelors in Public Health with a concentration in Population Data Science. She is passionate about finding innovations within data to encourage health equity. Currently, she is working with the SF Department of Public Health to improve engagement and utilization of the mental health resources within the Health Services System. In her free time, she enjoys playing video games and watercolor painting on Tower Lawn.

TASNEEM ALSHARIF
Tasneem is a recent public health graduate from San José State University. She was born and raised in Santa Clara. Her future goal is to become a registered nurse (RN) and an advocate for patient-centered care. During her practice, she hopes to use her background in public health to advise as well as support patients and their families’ needs. In her free time, she loves reading different kinds of novels, from mystery to adventure and horror. Another thing that she enjoys is cooking with her family, especially with her mother, who is also a big fan of cooking.
